By plane
ABD Airport Bolzano Dolomites, recently expanded, has multiple domestic and international charter connections. Travellers can fly to Rome and connect to Bolzano by air, or fly to Verona or Innsbruck and then take a train or a bus connection.
The airports of
Milano Malpensa (MPX),
Venice (VCE),
Bergamo (BGY) and
Treviso (TSF) are also viable choices.
By car
- Brennero Motorway A22, exit "Bolzano/Bozen Nord" or "Bolzano/Bozen Sud" (check traffic conditions on INFOTRAFIC)
- A-road 12 (Strada Statale 12 del Brennero): from Verona/Trento (south) and from Brennero/Brenner (north, Austria)
- A-road 38 (Strada Statale 38 dello Stelvio) from the Resia/Reschen Pass (Switzerland)
- Freeway MEBO (Superstrada 6 Merano-Bolzano): from Merano/Meran to Bolzano/Bozen
The most convenient car-park is in Piazza Verdi/Verdiplatz: "Parcheggio BZ-Centro - Parkplatz BZ-Mitte": from the motorway exit, follow first the signs to the city centre, and then follow the explicit signs to the car park.
By train
Bolzano/Bozen's train station is right in the centre of town,

Getting aroundBolzano/Bozen town centre is not big, so the easiest and most pleasant way to discover it is on foot: most places of interest are located in the centre, and if you have time to spare you could also take a
guided walk.
Other good options are biking and using the public transport system.
By bike
The town has one of the most developed bike lane systems in Italy (about 30 km composed by 8 main trails). Big signs with maps are strategically placed in many parts of town. On bike lane no. 1, after crossing the Talvera river in direction of town centre, there even an electronic sign keeping count of the number of passing bikes.
Bikes can be rented easily and cheaply form the rental station located close to the train station.
By bus
There are 17 city bus lines (generally 6 am - 9 pm); buses pass very frequently - you will not wait more than 10-15 minutes between two buses of a single line.
There also are many regional bus routes linking Bolzano/Bozen with its surrounding villages.
By cable car
In just a few minutes three cable cars, leaving from town, reach the mountain woodlands and meadows of Colle/Kohlern, San Genesio/Jenesien and Renon/Ritten. Above 1000 metres altitude you can enjoy magnificent views of the surrounding Dolomites, enjoy walks across lush pastureland and fill your lungs withfresh mountain air.
